Everytime you update or bump a ticket, it goes down to the end of the queue.
However, it's Christmas, and all(?) of the GMs celebrate, so cut them some slack?

Yeah, bumping your ticket has the opposite effect on tickets compared to what bumping does to threads on the forums. Instead of moving the ticket to the top, it moves it to the bottom. This is because tickets are more or less answered in order of oldest to newest, so the longer a ticket goes without any attention, the closer to the top of the list it gets.

Perhaps a visual is in order since a lot of people (not just those in this thread, but many others) don't quite seem to understand how bumping a ticket actually does the opposite of what you intend it to do.

Let's take a hypothetical batch of 10 tickets.

ID     Username
10001Aaron
10002Bob
10003Christine
10004Drew
10005Elise
10006Frank
10007Grace
10008Hank
10009Inez
10010Justin

Under normal circumstances, the GMs will look at those tickets in order starting with the ones at the top, and working their way down. There may be occasional exceptions to this, but, generally, the GMs will stick pretty close to the top-down order that the tickets appear in.

So, taking that into consideration, assuming nothing is done with any of the tickets on that list until a GM looks at them, Aaron is probably going to have his ticket dealt with first, and Justin will have his ticket dealt with last, and all the others done in between in respective order.

However, let's say that Grace and Bob decide that they've waited too long for a reply, and they each decide to bump their respective tickets. This is what the list will now look like (let's say Grace bumped first, and then Bob shortly thereafter):

ID     Username
10001Aaron
10003Christine
10004Drew
10005Elise
10006Frank
10008Hank
10009Inez
10010Justin
10007Grace
10002Bob

Now, the next time a GM goes to do tickets, Aaron's ticket will still be done first, but now Grace and Bob will be last instead of Justin, and all the other tickets in the middle will be seen just a little bit sooner. As you can see, the actual ticket number doesn't have any impact on when your ticket gets looked at. The order of the list is based purely on the date of the most recent post in that ticket.

The kicker here, though, is that the actual support ticket bin doesn't have just 10 tickets in it. No, the GMs could only be so lucky. I would imagine that, on average (throughout the course of the year), on any given day, there's likely to be 100-200 tickets in the sub GM bin, so bumping yourself down to the botton of THAT list is reeeeaaaaallly not a good thing for your ticket.

To make matters even worse, let's say you bump a ticket that was waiting on a High GM or a specific member of the staff (in other words, your ticket was in a bin other than the basic "Waiting on GM" bin). What happens when you do that? Your ticket not only gets buried at the bottom of the other tickets, BUT your ticket gets teleported back to the basic bin again, which means it could be quite some time before your ticket gets moved (again) back to the bin it was supposed to be in. At that point, you'll be at the bottom of THAT bin again, so you've totally screwed yourself now.

Well, I think that about covers the lesson for today.  Any question?  ;)
