Title: Any experienced Combo Monks around? ;<
Post by: ~Lucius~ on December 07, 2008, 11:59:20 am
I know 90% of this server goes Asura-spam happy, but doesnt anyone still take an interest in this build? I've wanted to make one for such a long freakin time. Now that I have the cash and gears to do so, I have a question about carding. I managed to get a +8 Barrage, and due to past experiences with lvl 3 weapons, Im quite content with that > >
A friend of mine told me DTSS was probably the best way to go. He messed around with one back on on the test server, and that seemed to do the most damage for combos. I figure I can still hit about 180~185 aspd even with one dopple, so Im not too concerned with having 2. Any other/better carding suggestions? ;Da /ok
Also, Im not too fond with slotting a Hydra. I've been told that before, but I rather it be multi purpose since im liable to roam around maps.

Umm, I wouldn't say I'm experienced persay. However the Combo build is the only build I use on my Champ. I have to say it is extremely fun, although it can be very frustrating when in terms of a PvP situation. While also being next-to-worthless in WoE. (Good thing I don't WoE on Champ, cause Asura is faggotry.)
Anyway, I'm free to answer questions via PM's though. Since quite honostly, I've only really seen DreamerP and myself ever use Combos. DreamerP tends to go 'standard' build more often though.

I levelled a friend's lvl96monk to 97 in medusa cave using a combo build, berserk claw, and my dex gears. It was a very tedious levelling but like Valash said, combo builds are fun. Like TK/SG class, you have to pay attention when the combo starts or it'll disappear.

I know, I was working on a Ranker, had like 5 points to go then it randomly shot up into the 90s :<But I think Monk'll be a hell of alot funner than TK xD

XD Y U DU DIS VAL /kis
But yea it depends what your using the Champ for if it's for PvP/WoE then Combos won't really help you but a DTTH would help more than Sam cards. But since you don't like Hydra than a DTTS.

I used TTSS. The dopple is unnecessary since combo monks/champs are also usually flee-based as well, meaning you're going to be dumping a lot of points into AGI, and that will give you the aspd you want just fine. Somewhere between 180 and 184 is a good target number to shoot for with aspd. Any slower, and you lose a lot of DPS, while any faster will make it incredibly difficult to time your combos.

^, Wise words indeed. You forget luci, I ran combo monk down in AM's using nothing than basic gears under 500k ;P
TTSS is excellent too, you can use it for FO and it has pretty decent damage if you change to a spirit build /ok

Yeah, really the only better carding you could have would wind up being only better for specific builds, or for specific maps. TTSS is easily the most versatile carding which will be really good for any build on any map.
/ok

Or you can totally be an idiot like me, and buy a Suiken merely for the +combo damage. ???
PS: Yeah, as Varis said and I forgot to mention. In a wierd hybrid type statted build I'm in, I get around 181 ASPD with a TTT Suik and no speed pots. I find that to be my comfort zone, otherwise just as Varis said, it becomes difficult to combo effeciently.
EDIT: Plus I don't want to water down my damage more than it already is by throwing in a Dopple, just because Combos are terrible in comparison to Asura or typically any 'standard/textbook' playing style anyway. Even with all the +%ages to damage.

DTT suiken is actually fun the doppel reduces your delay time i tried it on test server it /rice
