Title: Dual client issues
Post by: alucardevl on November 08, 2008, 02:26:55 pm
Hi everyone.  I recently started playing AnthemRO, and became interested in running 2 clients.  I saw that this was allowed on this server, and its nice to have an extra character in lieu of a party.  However, the slowdown generated by running 2 clients is a bit annoying, and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions.  I have tried running both windows at the smallest possible size with the settings at minimum, but the same exact slowdown happens no matter what configuration I use.  The computer (laptop) I'm using is a Core Duo 1.83 ghz, with 1 gig of ram and an ati mobility radeon x1400 graphics card.  I'm wondering if these specs are too low for running two clients at full speed, or if the problem lies elsewhere.  I dont have much experience playing with the graphics settings in the tool sets that come with the drivers, but I dont know how much effect that would have (I can list all of the settings I have if needed).  I'm up for any input or suggestions, so fire away!  Being unable to run 2 clients isn't going to ruin my experience here, but I like to exhaust all of my options before admitting defeat.

idk bout systems (xD), but try turning off effects for the less important window, and /lightmap both windows. always helps a bit.

also I think your slowdown is in your connection and not on your comp

If your laptop has Wireless and you run x2 client it will lagg like hell, but for Ro you are looking for at least 2gb or ram for lagg free gaming

Thanks for the info.  Would lag = a slowdown in the frame rate?  I'm used to it creating a lack of response, but again this is the first time I've run two RO clients.  I am running on a wireless connection now, and will test a wired one later, but (to me) it seems more like a system specs issue (in this case possibly the 1 gig of ram) rather than a connection issue.

Another problem you might look into, is that the server naturally laggs at times. Thats a thing you may also be interested in considering
