Title: Learning how to script on Aegis

I was thinking that I would like to contribute more towards this server in a constructive way (other than as a player).  Is there an idiot's guide somewhere out there to installing your own Aegis Server?

I found this thread: http://forum.asb-sakray.net/Aegis-Npc-Scripting-Guide-t31666.html for learning scripting, but I guess it's not much good without a server to try it on. :p

dont think anyone would need to know this besides GMs

For the same reason that some people will make banners / loading screens for the server. 
Some people have great ideas for things, but it may take a while to get implemented because the GM's are busy with other things.  What's wrong with seeing how hard it is to write the NPC script, send it to the GM's and see if they're interested in using it?

Hmm, I see both sides of the issue here.  There are security issues with players learning about the internal workings of the server... on the other hand, it could be really helpful to have players working on adding new features and things.  I wouldn't be surprised if the GMs said no (nor would I disagree with the decision) though I also think it would be neat if they did say yes.

I never wanted a copy of AnthemRO.  I want to find out where to get an idiot's guide to installing an Aegis server. 

There should be no problem with learning "Anthem Secrets" or having another BT incident at all.
