Title: Why Was the Emp Property Changed to Insect?
Post by: ~Axle~ on December 07, 2007, 01:35:14 am
Seriously. I don't pretend to know alot about Emp breaking - however with an Insect property Emp, It gets broken 5x faster, doesn't it? At least with the holy property, a highpriest could force Sin's and such to change weapons on the fly. But with this its like "Fire Endow" and I'm gone!
Why was it changed?

Axle, don't act like a newb. It was NEVER "Changed". Gravity changed the emperium statistics some few patches ago, but Anima, and now Anthem, never changed it because it was felt things worked fine the way they are. Everyone knows Gravity doesn't know jack about balancing a game.
Moreover, the Emperium is not insect property. There is no insect property. It is earth property and insect race, which does not affect its elemental resistances in any way.
The Earth property of the Emperium basically means that it resists nothing and takes extra damage from fire, and that's it. Holy completely changes the WoE metagame, and personally, I'm not convinced that it would be for the better.

Lol, No sleep will do that to a Person.
But On the official servers, and on other servers before I came to anima, I wasn't active much in Woe, So I didn't actually know some of that.
Of course it could never be changed here, because of the fact that everyone is geared for the earth property. However wouldn't it be harder to cap though? You'd have aspero* (damn it, I need to get to bed) , And its weakness would be shadow (If I'm not mistaken)
The only Shadow Weapons I can think of atm are Mystel, and a Linker/TKM's weapon.

Keep in mind that would make it SO much easier for guilds like Resonance to hold, and keep castles.
It would stop all of the fun in WoE; And force econ to raise higher and higher, with no competition.
Bad idea, imo.

Dude, Emps are already hard enough to break. Maybe you haven't noticed, because most of the WoE guilds don't know how to defend to save their lives, but making the Emp even harder to break is going to make impossible defenses even more impossible. Be thankful certain guilds are simply short on members, or you'd have faced one by now.
Also, if the Emp is Holy Prop, everyone is going to beg for cursed water to work, and that's NOT RIGHT. NOT RIGHT IN ANY WAY. BAD. BAD AND WROOOOOOOOONG.
Having the Emp weak to fire currently also makes Profs and Sages more valuable, and come on, they need to be cut some slack. Taking WoE roles away from them is the last thing we need.

Speaking of cursed water, why doesn't it work?

Because Having a Pocket Shadow Endow, so that Champs and other classes can auto-bypass Ghostring (and deal more damage, if I'm not mistaken) Is just wrong.

...so that Champs and other classes can auto-bypass Ghostring...
Many Champs already have elemental weapons. Elemental Maces have been popularly used for TSS for a long time, and Suiken has an element as well. You're not thinking that Cursed Water would affect Asura Strike, are you? Because that would be bad and wrong.
Half-right, though. Pocket endows are not right. They are terrible and ruin huge portions of the metagame. It's the same reason endow scrolls were nerfed... they completely obsoleted a number of Sage/Professor functions, and gave any job that wanted them free reign to change their element at will.
Which elements a job can and cannot functionally give itself matters a whole damn lot. If a job can endow itself, through cursed water or scrolls, they can use any weapon they want with any carding they want, and freely modify their element on that weapon. Assassins able to Fire Endow themselves? Wrong. Crusaders with Shadow-Bashes? Wrong. There are all number of ways that it changes how you have to think about battle, and none of them are ones you want to be worrying about in PvP and WoE situations.

Auto bypass - meaning without Switching Weapon. (to me anyways)
Also - Yeah, I know Asura is always Neutral. I'm not completely dead. I Was refering to TTS, and Combo's W/O Switching weapons. (therefor keeping whatever cards you have on your mace, for example: TTHH)
Like I said, not completely dead. Just a Zombie-like thing trolling the forums. D;
Edit: Selling those damn Scrolls Made a hell of alot Of Zeny though. People bought them like hotcakes. ;D
