Title: Economy slowdown?
Post by: pokmin100 on September 18, 2008, 08:50:25 pm
well i rejoined the server recently, but, it seems the economy is not as it once was. i remember when selling cakes, someone coming and buying 1000 of them at once, and one of them could be found all the time.
i had an npc near the fountain, selling cakes for 3000, iron for 200, and cookies for 1200, and left it on over night. not a single solitary one sold. yes, i even checked with another account to make sure the store was visable.
i'm not complaining, but is there a reason for this much of a slowdown? cause now it's impossible for those with no money to make it if stuff like this isn't selling well.

Well, PC bot is down.
I'm not saying that it affects the economy 100%, but allowing you to see all prices on items being sold at one time did make it a major help.

Well we do have low population now :(. I remember back when it was 1.5k, then it went to 1k and now barely rising to 600 from what I see :(.
Less popultion=Less buyers?

we did recently have a banner contest (tho no winners decided yet) and the entries looked really nice so hopefully once those go out they'll attract some new players =)

yeah, hope that works, cause this is a great server, and i'd hate to see it shut down due to low population.
even if i don't make a banner, i can still go around advertising a bit, like on forums i frequent, i know some people have been looking for stable servers.

Also - large guilds use, and provide Slim white potions to their members oftentimes. So the cake market is losing out on a bit of it's Woe customers.
But some guilds still buy them. I find that my SQI ingredient's are selling like hotcakes. Or.. "like cakes used to" I should say?

the problem is though, without a good economy in game, newer players can't get money so they can trans easier. 'm lucky i had 2 mil when i came back, and thats starting to dwindle and fade the more i buy meat and and Grapes/Grape juice. i've tried double clienting to sell and play at the same time, but it takes up so much resources i really can't.

maybe naming the shop 3k cake each or shout at town and cake 3k will always be selling fast when woe is coming but 1 thing for sure econoy is going down currently [in term of price, but it's used to be 2-10m foe doppel card]

yeah, but we aren't gonna get any new players cause of the current economy, think about it like this. the only people who really have money to buy anything are those with trans'd characters, like whitesmiths. but, in order to trans a character, you need money to support it, and if you can't get any money because things aren't selling, or there are so few shops that don't have what you need, then you aren't gonna be going anywhere anytime soon.
we need something to boost the economy, or more impportantly, the playerbase. the banners idea is good, but we need more direct approaches, like interforum advertising.
what i mean by that is, if you haven't already, on that forum you frequent, just sya "Hye, i found this game and it's pretty good." then describe it a bit and give them the link. are problem is low playerbase, if we had more people, the market gets more competitive, more people are buying the common goods, and other players are able to get better gears.

The fountain in Prontera is not a great vending spot for cakes... If you want to sell your cakes quickly, sell them in a better spot...
Some places you could try before WoE: Alberta Yuno Lighthalzen Aldebaran
I know these used to be popular spawn points for WoE'ing guilds. You should try your luck there. I know I always sold out fast in Alberta.

I don't know if it's changed but, Payon was always a great place to sell cakes/gj HP/SP restorative items back in the day too. Things always sold out fast @_@

I vended off like 46mil worth of stuff in a single night on wednesday... I guess positioning and timing is a key to successful vending...
Maybe it helped that I was having discount prices...
