Post by: mranderson692004 on September 06, 2008, 03:23:37 pm
i have always wanted to know where the creators of anthemro came up with the ideas for the maps and such and monsters i mean. skellington reminds me of nightmare before christmas. anyone have any ideas.

but the creators of anima/anthem didn't come up with all this stuff...gravity and whatever other companies/corporations that helped were the ones to come up with these concepts. and I think there's quite a bit of mythology and history behind alot of the maps and monsters.

pretty much what nakiro said.
mainly...look up...norse mythology?

pretty much is the base of a LOT of items(sleips, mjol, meg, bryz, ygg tree to name a few)

heres why skelington/niff is based on:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niflheim

now...that is norse

From what I've seen. This game is based on a lot of mythology. Mainly Norse...but I've also seen Egyptian, Greek, and ancient Japanese mythos. But then some things are just plain made up. Skellington does remind me of TNBC...but the town of Nifelheim itself you really expect Jack to jump out and greet you, not Skellington. Lutie and the whole Toy Factory concept is just strange but creative. Wouldn't hurt anyone to do a spell check also...all the NPCs speak Engrish XD

Ah the great Yggdrasil tree whose name and/or concept is used within many games. The Yggdrasil is the tree that holds all of existence together. as for asking what its based off of, definitely Norse! whats the name of the game? Ragnarok! The Norse Apocalypse!!!!!

URITE MALA MUNDI!!!!

alot of korean and japanese games have norse mythology up the wazu, take final fantasy and most other RPg's for that matter. Ragnorok itself, as stated earlier, is the norse apocalypse. in FF7, the name of clouds town was clever, Niebelheim, literally means home of cloud, while regarding the realm of nieflheim.

(beware, i'm not a FF fanatic, just happen to know this stuff. i say this, cause most of my references come from FF or other square and enix games.) I believe a few in game items here in Ragnorok are akin to thor's and Odins's weaponry/steeds.

names like Loki, Odin, Thor, and many others are from the norse mythos.

i'm unsure as to what the earth in ragnarok is called, but might it be Midgard? if so, thats basically the realm of humans in the norse mythos.

Valhalla is the realm of the Gods.
Midgard is the realm of the Humans.

the yggdrasil tree is also where 2 humans hid during the ragnarok and ended up being the last two humans on midgard after the war was over between odin and his people and loki and his people.

that is all discribed in the prose edda which i plan to read one day as i enjoy reading about mithology.
