Title: Bot checking methods?
Post by: LiuZhangYu on August 08, 2008, 07:50:46 am
I'm just wondering how to recognise a bot from a whole lot of players... There seems to be a lot of bot reports but what confuses me is how they do it. Can anyone tell me?

It's quite hard to recognize a bot if you haven't seen or used one before. I never used a bot here, tried using the program on another server, but I failed, couldn't even start that damn thing :< , anyway, for me it's just experience. You see players walking in a certain pattern, following them, seeing them looting 5 items in < 1 second. Most of the time, people who use bots don't sit in front of their computer, so PMing or talking to them, asking them questions and getting no answer is an indicator for a bot as well.
Several bots log out when being PMed, or they teleport immediately when someone enters their sight range.

You'll find quite a few bots in "newbie" areas like Prontera Fields, Geffen Fields, Payon Dungeon, or Toy Factory 2. Places with good card drops as well, for example Comodo East Cave.

If you have a suspicion, for example a player acting like a "robot" (not stopping at all when walking, doing the same things over and over like buffing etc.), but are not very sure, report the player anyway, via Support Ticket (http://www.anthemro.com/support/). Only the GMish bot check will tell if they really botted or not.

Uhhh, I made a bot hunting guide but it was for GMs with access to @commands...... But yea just look for stuff like warping as soon as you get on screen, or ones that KS (if they're poorly configured) uhhhh, ones that don't pick up anything even if its like a card or something. Ummm just if you suspect someone then just ask them something, no response then probably a bot.
