Title: Rogue Dagger/Bow Opinions
Post by: Rachella on July 21, 2008, 10:10:59 am
Mkay, so. I'm pretty sure this is an over-talked about topic. I've seen plenty of threads, but in each one I can never verify the exact information I'd like to have.
I currently have a Dopple and Samurai card on a 3 slotted saber for my rogue. I plan on unslotting the cards.
I want something better. Is there something better?
Dagger with its double attack and sword mastery thingy?
Or bow? I've never done bow so Iunno what benefits there are to it.
I'd appreciate answers. :) Probably be switching to the divest/strip route, also. Currently just for monsters.

Bow is the most used one due to the fact that it only takes one stat to increase damage which would be max dex not to mention dex also helps when stripping, elemental arrows and range locking monsters before they get near you with a DD bow...while daggers require str and dex to do good dmg. The only flaw with a bow is you cant use a shield with a dagger you can.

i thought with bow you need trifecta/crits to rangelock em? dunno though...
anyways i'd prefer bow since it has range, and as rogue/stalker class you get the range bonus skill(______ eye) dagger, you get swordmastery+doubleatk, however... if you get a DDSwx(sidewinder) your bow can doubleatk lvl 10(learned skill) too :D so its basically like a ranged dagger-_- without a shield. stripping, best with dex.

Bow is quite a bit better.
The only downside to it - is in Woe you'll want a shield equiped.
But that's not a huge problem. A Combat knife+Toad shield will serve you much better then a DDxx dagger+Toad will in Woe.

Alrighty. Everyone seems to point to bows!
Can you strip with bows?
Errr.. Divest with bows? Or is it melee as in, needing to walk up to?
Probably the latter, eh?

You have to walk up to the person. Thats not really a problem with Chase walk - but it can get tough with a Rogue, since you only have hide.
Edit: To simplify it a bit; Try hitting them with status arrows. Something that doesn't wear off if you hit them afterwards. Curse would be a good example of an ideal status. Freeze is probably the best, but it breaks when you hit it - so its hard to pull off.

Alrighty, seems pretty straight forward.
Now, what about type of bow? What's a good bow for a rogue?
Currently I have Dopple and Samurai, like I mentioned in the first post. I plan on getting another dopple soon, and maybe a turtle or sidewinder?
Depending on the recommended bow.

DDSSidewinder is pretty good for Point+Click.

Since you want to strip, you want to save as many skill points as possible as a rogue. I'd recommend getting a DDSsw bow.
This will allow you to do double attack at range, and strip when you get close. A DDTS bow will give the highest normal damage output, but it is more used for double strafing. And trust me, you won't have enough skill points to waste 10 in double strafing (as well as that it will eat up your sp incredibly fast)

Rogues=/=Stalkers. Remember that you get 20 extra points as a Stalker, then you do as a Rogue. Meaning it is possible to invest in DS. However I still think it's quite pointless. DS gives me almost the same damage output as my Double attack from my SW Sherwood. It may be about 100 damage more. Not enough to make me want to invest skill points into it.

Exactly that I think. The advantage of sw is that it hits 50% of the time at 0 sp cost. And stalkers burn through sp as it is during WoE (when in chase walk) In PvM sw has another advantage of range locking your opponent. It won't completely lock them, but you have backslide for a reason ::)
In PvM strip skills aren't needed. In WoE/PvP being able to use full strip as well as level 10 plagiarise is just unimaginably awesome xD
