is there anything better than a muffler i can use on my sage (i have a +3 hard silver robe and a muffler)

The next tier garment would be a Heavenly Maiden Robe [1], although it's only usable by characters level 80+.
However, you can also try to upgrade your Muffler to increase it's defense rating by .66 points (?) per upgrade. A risk after +4, but it could prove worthwhile.
