Title: What would be better?

I'm gonna start compounding a weapon for nffing with my BS. and was wonder.... whether to have a DBSS Mace or a DBSS Axe/Battle axe

Mace is better for versatility (ie - more classes can use it), but the Axe will do a few points more damage per hit (not a truly significant amount, though).

I'm not sure if it's wise to actually use a mace though just because of versatility. I mean the combo works for all the classes but I would think having a DD in that would be much more useful to other classes. Like the Alchemist or swordsman class. Then again thats probably just me.

that's a good point. The DBSS variety is sorta only an optimal choice for smiths. Most other classes would need to go with a DDBS.

If you can, I'd suggest getting a +10 DBS chain.
