Title: Spear or sword knight? and question about monster skills
Post by: neonpunishment on April 06, 2008, 02:03:55 am
I am a level 70 knight should i use 2 handed swords or spears? with 2mil to spend :p
And i noticed some monsters have skills but i can't find out what most of them do for example Orc warrior: • Lv 1 Emotion • Lv 2 Ground Attack • Lv 1 Smoking
I am guessing emotion is uses a random emotion or something smoking seems to hurt itsself but does it do anything else? :p

Anne the Stylist, the top right portal on the map. Not the one that appears near you. Or take a left at Glast Heim Churchyard and flywing to the top right portal.

well i'd say 2h sword because ur aspd is faster+u can use parry(is it lk only or what?) thus saving pots :S
for spears, its mostly the +10 pike[4] for the good cards...Doppelx2, phreeoni, turtle general but thats like 60mil. just a normal spear would do..perhaps andre cards or hydra/orc lady(do more dmg to orcs to train)

Ummm well you can find out stuff like that at Ratemyserver you can find the link here: http://ratemyserver.net/ (http://ratemyserver.net/)
Also as your choice of going two hand sword knight or spear knight. I would suggest spear as they have more attack power then the swords. Also as a Knight you're very limited when using a two-hand swords in terms of skill useage.

Knights have lots of spear skills, so I think you should take advantage of that and use a spear. /ok

those skills are probably useless? also they might not be implemented (yet) on aRO--where you got that info might be on a more updated site that is concerned with more updated episodes
for knights, there is really only 1 way to go (unless you are uber rich)
use the strongest 2h sword you can find and stick with 2h quicken, awakening/zerk pots, aura blade, and i'm not sure if there are any skills i missed (because i think the rest are for Lord Knight only) and get a peco with max moving hp recov
for training you can go to Isis if you can handle it and bowling bash with tons of GJ and Meat (very costly, not recommended unless you have a healer/support class with you) r you can go to bibilan-last level and train there. you might want to get fin helms from Obeane in the level before the last (bibilan) because thats always a good noob drop.
if you really don't care to do that, get lots of dex, str, and int, get a super strong spear thats good versus undead, and KS in GH prisons with spear boomerang
besides all that, knight isn't a good class--in fact, one of th worst--with which to start a server. I recommend that if you don't already have another on which to make money, do so now and worry about the knight later. knights are HELL to level, especially without funding.
good money classes are assassins/rogues, hunters, and priests--those are always great to start with because they offer a lot in skills when you lack in gears

I'd suggest using spears. Brandish Spear is so much easier to use than Bowling Bash. Without the use of MvP cards, the equipment for PvM between the two options will generally be the same; forged elemental weapons.

bowling bash is better--does more damage per hit

Yes, however brandish uses less sp. It can save some gj in the long run. Also unlike spears other then two hand quicken thats about all the sword skills a knight can get. Excluding the swordsman skills.

If you want to save money though, you could use 2h quicken and a concentration pot (awakening if u want to spend a little more ;p) and just go around training like said earilier (something like an elemental sword would help immensely if you can find a whitesmith to make one for you)
if you are going to use SP, might as well go all out on it, or use the minimum. Bowling bash does indeed use more SP but it also keeps you flexible in that you can use both the highest sp way of training, or the lowest sp way of training without introducing a spear, in which you NEED to use skill to make the spear even remotely useful.
of course, this is being tight on money. again i suggest that you find yourself a better character to make money with and then fund your knight that way--there is no getting around how tedious it is to train an unfunded knight

That is quite true actually. However a normal lance at HOs can level a knight quite nicely, you just need to watch out for Orc Hero. Also all characters will be better with teh correct amount of funds as well. I think though a Knight would be a character to get used to the game. Since it has rather simple skills to use.

ice pike* is just like the elemental sword u are working on (only, its a pike :p)
~~
I believe you are correct in your strategem at High Orcs and I actually support this way of training =] i recommend still that he get a reliable 2handed sword for the pure flexibility of taking it to any map considered traversable by a knight using one of multiple forms of training/hunting
~~
Sapph's got great point =] I think i might actually get one myself (;o ?)
