Title: So confused about the lag O.o?

There are people who lag more then others. We all know this, but shouldn't I be lagging less then others? Nothing is running but Anthem, no IE not even the start bar thing. Just Anthem and obviously my Avast and whatever System crap. And then I'm in the same time zone, least I believe. And seriously Do I need more then 2megs of download spd? Note OS is XP w/ 512megs. So is it my memory??? Any ideas??? Cause the server says... (http://www.anthemro.com/info.php) So confused. And I call myself a computer person, ^^, networks never my thing.

If you check my FAQ guide you can find out some reasons why you may lag. There is a small amount of server lag that everyone gets but in most cases it's the user who is lagging. Distance from the server is a main cause in lag (it's in Canada)

Depends how you lag.

Does your game freeze and then everything quickly snaps into position after a few seconds? Does the game keep playing while your screen freezes? Do you see everything fluently but whatever you do is delayed? Post a traceroute to www.anthemro.com, that may help too.

512 Ram might be why.

1.5 runs it rather smoothly, 1 gig has some hiccups every now and then but not so bad. At least from what I've experienced.

(keep in mind, that's XP ;P A RAM upgrade would help if the system does a lot of paging - listen for heavily disk use when lagging, if that's the case, your RAM needs upgrading).

I've had XP and 512 ram before too before Vista laptop and my computer's death :(

XP and 512 MB RAM should work well together, before my upgrade to Vista and 2.5 GB I had the same.

Try to describe when/how the lag occurs. Because... lag =/= lag.


There IS a bit of lag on AnthemRO compared to other servers, but I already play for ... nearly 2 years? And this kind of lag has always been there, and you get used to it when you play for some weeks.

No wonder lately I've been feeling the pain of lag. lol hmmm maybe I should grab me another chip to put into my comp. lol

well Now I know why when I was past the end of the World It didn't lag so much ^^,, <Meaning Marquette, MI> But I'm in Central Wisconsin, so I can't be all that far, I know probably around 1000miles, but I know I'm in the same Time Zone. But damn >< I don't want to have to buy RAM for my Desktop it's expensive. Cant' wait to get my notebook back so much cheaper to buy PC 5300. The difference is ridiculous, Desktop 1 gig = $70 Notebook 2 gig = $35 And as for how I lag I do the pause then Fast Forward, and the OMG WHY IS EVERYONE ELSE MOVING? I do it all ^^, But thanks guys. by the way it's 3gigs Max for Regular XP right? Oh and what's that traceroute thing? Remember I'm Network Illiterate. I'm a hardware chick
