Title: Concerning the Ghostring Card
Post by: Jinya on March 17, 2008, 05:36:21 pm
I've been meaning to ask this since I still fail to grasp this since the Anima days back in '05.
Why exactly is Ghostring nerfed here? It only works for PvP/WoE, but not in PvM...why is that? I'm gonna assume MVP abuse would be a factor...maybe, but I'd like to hear an answer from someone else, at least to quell my curiousity. Even with the card, you'd still get very much pwned by MVP elemental attacks and the like, even moreso if you're complacent and use Deviling with it.

I'm pretty sure GR is like this on iRO. .-.

Deviling already reduce 50% to neutral attack, which is basically all monsters attacks. If GR was to work in PvM, that would make monsters damage so damn low that you wouldn't need extra defense gears.

Indeed, in one of the private servers I played on after I got sick of iRO, they actually had Ghostring that works in PvM, wow shit.
The dealie with GR in iRO though, it works exactly like the aRO copy, but only like a few people has it, those that do pwned the early parts of woe, especially if they had GTB as well. (Good times, good times)

GR on PvM is retarded. Seriously think about it. 50% Reduction from Devi 75% reduction from GR 25% Reduction form Tirifing
You'd be taking around 9% neutral damage from medium monsters, and this is before we apply DEF to that >_> How about we put a champ with steel body tanking with those gears? That's a fixed 90 DEF. So the 9% would be reduced to under 1% of damage.
And yes GR on official servers does work in PvM.

I've been wondering on another server instead of doing reduction they decided to give ghostring card to enchant ghost property on armor. As in neutral attacks will always miss.

I have. Its why some MVPs have slight tricks up their sleeves. You're wearing GR/Devi and you get a magic attack/elemental attack to the face. With the constant spam that certain MVPs do, GR won't be THAT helpful. Wear GTB to counter, and you still have to worry about the elemental attacks they have and the fact that you can't defend THAT well, armor wise, against it, due to GTB. I just wanted a few answers from other people, is all. Seems it IS MVP related, since the card is so widespread and easy to attain here.

Ghostring Card work in ***Ro..It has the "REAL" effect..*ghost type armor = can't be hit by neutral dmg* and it work on every players and monsters too..except for magic lol
But then again, you can still get own from monster even with ghostring card -_-;;
maybe anthem should change it? :-\

You'd still be hit, anyway, if it had its real effect, since GR only turns players to Ghost 1, not like mobs that can have Ghost 2-4. Anthem can leave it as it is. I was just curious.

Well as I said you'd be reducing medium sized damage to about 9% You'd take pathetic amounts of damage from almost anything

Ghostring only works in PVP and player damage only. In inRO an official server a GM summoned MVPs into a PVP room. GR did not work with them. Its programmed to work that way now there are some eA servers that modify it to work in PvM but thats like a cheating code- you dont get damaged - you 'd make Satan morroc look like a poring - Elemental attacks are rare - its easy to pot those out before the next one.

iRO worked that way, sorry, Razer. It might not now as with 7years of playing I'm sure more than a few GR cards have creeped up. Warranting a nerf...

inorite? iRO , inRO both were official servers ok, I have played as a low tier on iro and as a top tier in inRO. People who'd put up Grs in a duel would insta win unless their opponent would use an endow - which was legal in inRO as there were only a few GRs that were around and most people borrowed them for usage in duels.

Ghostring's default works in PvM by default.
The only reason that on Anthem it is "nerfed" is because you can buy cards--thats it.
On servers that follow default, you can only attain it at a low chance from the monster or an OCA. In a real server, you wouldn't be able to get a Deviling, Tirfing, and Ghostring together unless you spent months upon months of 24/7 Hunting--even then, somebody can get to it before you, and a huge huge percent of the time it won't drop.
Thus, the reward matchess the effort; in Anthem, all you need to do is buy it and it will make it a snap to get from 1/1 novice to trans even if that was your only character ever.

Not quite. iRO/jRO/kRO etc all work the same. GR only works PvP/WoE. GR is ineffective PvM. If there are other servers that it -does- work PvM it has been edited from its original state.

It doesnt work, not many people on iRO have the card to confirm that. I had a GR card on inRO so I know how it works - All I d say it was a big dissappointment- I collected all that 300M or a card I beleived would work in PVM. Besides GR card reducing earthquake has no connection in proving it works with normal attacks. The guy in your link takes that fact for assumption.

It DID work in iRO. They more than likely nerfed it after more saw light.
