Title: Niffleheim Mob Splitting
Post by: nexusgen on February 21, 2008, 09:48:01 am
I'm sorta wondering if you get in trouble for this... because some annoying hp said he's gonna report me cause his mob ran at me...

So I'm wondering... Can you get in trouble for mobs running toward other people? I mean seriously... He ran in my direction and some of his mob jump off on me.

So as to not die I fought back...

What I also dont get is why people get so mad and stress about this? Especially when you're already handling a mob and their's jumps on you and you fight back to survive?
I mean 1 time I had a nice 5-10 mob on me and this chick running by w/ like 10+ and it was 1000% her fault, because I was already handling one and her's jumped on me... SO I was NOT gonna warp out JUST BECAUSE SHE LOST HER MOB... I digress...

Is It illegal if someone else's mob splits and chases you? Can you get in trouble for it?
To be honest I dont see why you should because:

1) Why should I drop my mob so they can keep theirs that they were careless and lost
2) Its a game... and there will be other mobs
3) ITs their fault for being so careless w/ it
4) I see it happening all the time... but there are only a few sour crouts who get all stressed about it... ITs basically how niff operates... imho

i guess the extra exp and loot didnt affect you eh
yeah niff is annoying when crowded especially when someones there stealing mobs, is would be nice from your side to use tele or a fly wing but anyway you dont have to and there are only a few that wont give mobs back to the "owners" most would fly wing or tele, if not i consider they noobs cause they cant mob by themselves and tails or walks by your mobs to steal a bit or even when they dont want to give up a few monsters (5) to get the new big mob exp and loot

I don't see anything wrong with what you did, and it seems like they should have been watching where they were going so as to avoid bringing their mob to another player.  It is one thing to walk into another players mob when they are standing still and killing it, but it is quite another when you're both walking around and their mob is brought to you imo.

I agree that tailing is gay... I mean annoying... but I really dont tail (tho i have done it like 2x, and failed xD) because I cant handle huge mobs. but what I am saying is when you are stationary.. or just warped in and you're starting a mob... and their's runs on you... WHY should I warp out... lose my mob, just because they screwed up.

maybe the gms should spawn more monster in niff?

IMo, it'd be better if there were 2 identical, but separate niffs... that'd split up the ammot of people who come to each.

Well, it's common courtesy to give back the mob that was stolen or fly wing away if the person with the smaller mob(around 5 monsters) ran into someone with a huge mob to give way.
But yeah, there's nothing wrong with defending yourself. Just say sorry anyway and hopefully they move on from it.

Agreed. There's like an unwritten agreement between players about this that sometimes others don't complain. :3

Nah, there's enough monsters. Just also a lot of people. =\

the big funny part about it is I said Sorry, and after that thats when the dude was like having a fit >.<

and one thing that I've noticed... Is that there are like a bunch of ws in niff that seem to have some sort of  "pact" that if their mob is like 1/3 the size of yours and they pick your's up they will warp out.

For me, sometimes thats not the case. but some times it does seem like I should warp out, but the person who drops the mob USUALLY keeps going, so its pointless to do it all the time, and I guess I'm in the habit of keeping it.

but one of the things I hate most is accidently walking Straight towards someone else... It takes over 50% of the mob.

Yeah, sometimes nif is so laggy that you just run straight into them. >_o

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. It's a nice agreement that works. Mostly WS/BS only though.

Lol, yeah. Stuff like that is needed to make it all run more smoothly, quarreling = time  and time = money, concerning niff antics.

It's the HP fault for failing to control her mob. She can easily sanc them so their aggression will always be towards her, meaning they won't change targets. Ironically, I say you can report her instead of MPKing you.

The person whose mobs jumped you fails at mob controlling. This is a classic case of "You stole my mobs cause I couldn't keep them aggro on me!" Not your fault, and you did nothing wrong. If hte person reports you, they're even dumber than I thought.

Why should you warp out if they can't control their mobs? It's not your fault they fail at aggroing the mobs properly. A sanc from a priest or MB from a running pally will effectively seal the mob as yours. THEN if someone steals them, they're really stealing.

thats sorta what I'm saying...
and I've died like 5x in niff because of people dropping mobs on me....

1x a chick even got mad at me... and she caused it. >.<
almost got me kill'd too.

I mean what do you expect when you run like 2 squares from someone in the opposite diricetion while they are stationary xD

well thnx dudes... now I know they can't get me in trouble.
