Title: <<The Perfect Niff's Build >>
Post by: Xakiru on February 01, 2008, 12:55:37 pm
Well i was wondering if a Ws can get the same build as Steel Body Monk/champ ,it will be good if a WS get 1 dmg, i tryed to get the same def , well when i set my stats to 99 vit + my equips i get 57 + 111 = 168 def , the monk i was testing with is Snow jane , she had 90 + 40 = 130 . even my def is higher i still get dmg, but the monk get like 1 dmg , or miss with assump, so we realized that it's related to the added def , not the vit def , well if we try to get the 90 , it would be like this :

 +4 Valkyrie Helm [BK]  = 14
 EWE BK = 3
 Pussycatbell = 5
 +9 Formal suite Gram = 24
 +10 guard = 13
 +10 muffer LoD  = 13
 +10 Shoes Eddga = 12
 2x seafty ring = 6

14 + 3 + 5 + 24 + 13 + 13 + 12 +6 = 90

With these gears the player can get 1 dmg or miss with assump ,i'm looking for someone who have these gears to try this build , i dunno if it will Work, need confirmation .

paladin181 Said that refining is 0.8 , in this case if it's true  we will need :

 +9 Valkyrie Helm [BK]  = 7 + 3 + 8(10*0.8 )
 EWE BK = 3
 Pussycatbell = 5
 +10 Formal suite Gram = 10 + 4 + 8(10*0.8 )
 +10 Buckler [Sting Card] = 4+ 2 + 8(10*0.8 )
 +10 muffer LoD  = 3 + 8(10*0.8 )
 +10 Shoes Eddga = 4 + 8(10*0.8 )
 2x seafty ring = 6

90
seems kinda impossible ....>.<

edit : i hate this emo 8)

Maybe it's not a question?

More like a guide or something maybe?

Def isn't calculated like that. Each + on gear is in reality only .8... So +10 is +8 in reality. Therefore your armor isn't 90 def, and when being mobbed, your def drops some per mob that attacks you.

why is it 0.8 Def not 1 , it's counted in status 1 .
if it's like this ,is it imposible to get 90 def ?

If I'm not wrong, you can't lower the damage that much o_o, that's the "Steel body" effect, as a WS you will be getting damage always.

That's just the way the game is. They made the DEF to display 1 for every +1, but changed it. Check the other thread here (http://www.anthemro.com/forums/index.php/topic,12992.0.html) for some details. They say it's .67 per +1, but I've always gone with .8. The point is, it's not 1.

Actually if you read what I posted in the other thread you'd know that upgrades give 2/3 DEF. Which is about 0.67, however since 2/3 is an irrational number the 0.67 is not exactly accurate either.

Your gear seup would give a total of

+9 Valkyrie Helm [BK]  = 16.67
 EWE BK = 3
 Pussycatbell = 5
 +10 Formal suite Gram = 20.67
 +10 Buckler 10.67 (Sting is modded for accessories here)
 +10 muffer LoD  = 11.67
 +10 Shoes Eddga = 8.67
 2x seafty ring = 6

82.35

Also do remember how DEF works. The left hand part of your DEF lowers damage by percentage and comes form your gears, the right hand part lowers it by number and comes from your total VIT. For example let's take your 57+111 DEF. Then assume that you get hit by 1000 points of damage.

Now first of all your armor DEF kicks in reducing that 1000 damage by 57%.
1000*0,57=570.
After that your VIT defense hits in reducing the damage by points.
570-111=459

Now first of all your armor DEF kicks in reducing that 1000 damage by 57%.
1000*0,43=430.
After that your VIT defense hits in reducing the damage by points.
430-111=319

Not to mention the fact that high DEF is not good with Niff mobbing. DEF also lowers by a certain amount when more monsters are hitting you, similar fashion as flee lowers when multple monsters are hitting you.

There's two different schools of thought on this. From the RO formula page (I really wish I could find a link, and I may later) it always said .8, not 2/3

EDIT: in your formula, you did the math worng too. 1000 damage hit. 570 DEF reduces the damage to 430, then we subtract 111 for a total of 319.

it seems wrong , i tryed to get my def 0 to make it seems like that :
1000*0,00 = 0 .

but it don't work .

@paladin181 , True , it's like =  Dmg - ( Dmg x LeftDef % ) - RightDef . right ? .
well we posted at the same time ....

God I'm an idiot /dum
My bad on that, sorry bout that.

Everywhere from where I've read it has said 2/3. Both iRO wiki and ROdatazone say 2/3. And ROdatazone is one of the most acurate sites of RO mechanics I've seen.

Agree to disagree then. 2/3 is close enough for me anyway.
