Have you received any applications from seemingly competent Developers/Web Designers yet?
That reply was posted only 40 minutes after this thread went up. The timing and the wording are what probably led to it being interpreted as a shot at the current developers rather than any sort of personal advertisement. Most of us do not know who has applied, either, so we have no gauge of whether there is any competition. Even if we did, I don't see how that should have any bearing on someone being a potential developer.
We posted this hiring announcement because we need help in carrying out our vision for the future of this server. We need everyone who might be qualified to apply. Don't hold off just because others may have already applied for the position you're seeking. No decisions will be made until after the cutoff for submitting applications and after that will be interviews and final decisions.

Staff positions on RO are rarely ever paid. If you're going in for money, you're in it for the wrong reason.
