Hello my fellow players... and any staff I have not been able to reach out to yet.

My name is Merkel, and I am here to help.

Adrift has a lot going on in his life, a lot of great things, but this means he does not have the time for the server that he'd like to have, so he asked me to take over. The reason you have seen me and heard rumors of my existence before this post is that I wanted to hit the ground running and start helping before I told everyone a bunch of words.
I don't want you guys to think I am a just a new clueless owner so I will give you a little background. I used to run all the donations and finances for the server back when it was Anthem and Animus.

Going forward, this is what you can expect:

Tickets - You have my word that each and every ticket will be dealt with in a timely manner. Also, I plan on resolving every old ticket as long as the players are active and reply when asked. There will be a separate announcement on this in the near future.

Item Shop - The item shop will be finished soon, old and new items will be in there, and the discount prices will become permanent. There is no ETA since there is a lot going on.

Population - I plan on growing it back to at least an average of 500 players online. I will be trying hard to make this server what it once was. It wont be easy, but we will make a comeback through advertising and continuous improvements.

Please feel free to message me in game or on the forums. I not only want your feedback, I need it.

Was just reading some of the reviews on RMS and what do you think about them?

It hurts to read them, but they are true. The economy is trash, WoE is trash, and no one plays besides the auto vendors and about 20-30 people. How do we fix this issue?

I've been logging in and out of AnesisRO through the years but jeez its hard to want to continue when I need 150+ million zeny to even be relevant. I just don't have the time to invest into the game to farm 150+ million zeny. It's ridiculous. I even tried getting my four brothers and two friends to come play and they all quit because of the economy and just dead population.

Advertising COULD work, but with the horrible economy and new people coming in, it's a farfetched idea that advertising alone will revive this server to a constant 500+ players logged in.

I'd hate to suggest it but maybe the donators have to take a hit and settle for a wipe. I've donated a few hundred dollars and if you just give me a donator credit of some sort I'd be more than happy to take a wipe and revive the server through some new advertising and a donator's map.

I've been playing Ragnarok Online on and off for a couple years now and I originally started off here.

When I first began, it was literally my first experience with RO--a buddy of mine was talking about it one night while we were drinking and I had to experience it for myself. I wasn't new to the MMO-genre or a grind-fest so I logged in and we started off.

The server was quiet, but active. Players were decent, the economy was healthy, WoE still sucked. I had a blast, regardless. I didn't feel the compelling need to donate in order to get powerful, I could use the economy to make my own wealth and I enjoyed that.

Now, the server is a wasteland. I see the same handful of players talking in @main, sitting around Prontera, doing absolutely nothing.

The economy? Hahah, economy, what economy? No players have desire for anything because the only people still around are outrageously wealthy and inflate their prices to horde their wealth. Trying to get simple cards for a low-level through zeny-farming is literally impossible, since more than half the time you can't even find the item for sale--because, well, duh, nobody plays anymore.

Outside of this, we're competing with servers that reflect a much prettier and more attractive version of the same game. I moved to ****RO because... have you seen their f*cking website? It's gorgeous. All of the information I would ever need is nicely updated and easily accessible. Features are open and noob friendly--making it an inviting place for the non-donators or the actual newbie players. Events are hosted on a daily basis. What's the choice, really? Sure, I've invested time and money (yes, cash money) over here into making my character powerful... but to what end? What do I do now, that the server has fallen from grace? Nothing. Pack up and move out.

I suggest you find yourself a better, more inviting look for Anesis and making the game generally more appealing for the newbie player. More events, more updates, more information, more features. It's your only shot and I wish you luck. I'd love to come back.

I do agree that our website/wiki need a LOT of work right now. Most if not all the new players have no idea about the vend browser, the wiki, or the beginner quest line, which makes starting that much more daunting than it already is.

I hope you display a more professional face than what I've seen from your first appearances. Calling yourself a god and threatening to shove a kaho up somewhere unpleasant, threatening to ban people even jokingly comes off in extraordinary bad taste. As well as the few mishaps of your identity. While it was clear you were highly inebriated at the time, i still find little hope that it will not be a recurring occurrence. I came back to see what my friends had been talking about and I do not believe Ill be staying long if what was shown continues.

On another note of some of the things you have been saying that you are planning. Might as well wipe everything and start over if you're simply going to undo everything that the previous owners have been against. Makes me question the timing of certain other staff leaving.

Well hello there, I actually read everything you wrote.  So first of all you can take stuff out of context all you want, and if you don't want to be here so be it.  As far as my behavior goes, I was just being me and not acting like a robot to the players.  I want them to know I am a person just like them and I can be reached out to.  I already started making changes and will continue to do so as needed.

Now let me ask you a question,  What is bad about answering tickets fast and reviving all old tickets with active players?
I know you are saying that I am going to do things that the previous owners were against but maybe you should look at the amount of players we currently have and ask yourself if this is a result of bad decisions in the past.  I understand people will find out who I am and I am sure I will have a few people that don't approve of what I do or like me, but that's OK!  As long as the server starts growing and the players are happy my job is being done properly.

Now if anyone would like to post more suggestions, I'm all ears!

Just so you guys know, I read every post.  I just can't reply to them all.

I need to find out what happen to Geffenia but I'd love to make it how it was before.  It was never a problem when we had players so I see no problem bringing it back.

Just so you guys know, I read every post.  I just can't reply to them all.

I need to find out what happen to Geffenia but I'd love to make it how it was before.  It was never a problem when we had players so I see no problem bringing it back.

It was something about the monsters being adjusted to how it is in official cause of a item tame that tames succubus that drops from them now but there could be more to it.

Make beginner weapons usable by 2nd classes too and give bonuses such as uninterrupted cast and aspd 10% for melee. Cuz i dont find it useful to create them when i just started, im gonna dump them few hours later for jobchange and i end up stuck with crap  gears. Most of my fren who invited me to play already left just simply bcoz its hard to farm and everything is nt affordable to begin with

Tangentially related, I'm a software developer, and from time to time, I've thought about doing RO related side projects. However, most of the things I've come up with require access to data that I don't have. Just as an example, I've thought about maintaining a history of vend transactions to observe trends in price and demand. Would you consider creating a developer API that would facilitate third party apps?

I gotta say after being hiatus/inactive or away for almost years/months, it is sad to see the population. I agree on the website. Turn it into new fresh look and maybe you can pick Anesis own colour signature or something whatever you call it. Aside from the website, maybe the BGM as well? Maybe it doesn't seem important but hey, one good song/bgm can touch your soul when they listen to it. Let's say for the login screen, there's a lot of remix out there you can use. Pick something soothing. I have one in mind, and I bet if you use it, someone would probably just stare at the login screen and listen to it. I'm sorry that I dont know if it is legal or not for you to change it, I'm just giving some suggestions, but I believe it is something a player would want to see/looking forward. Something new in the server.

The loading screen is like, a whipped cream on an ice cream. How about make an event for like, every 5 months, or when a holiday is coming. I'm the one player who would say "Things still the same. Nothing's change" just by looking at the loading screen. Despite those words coming out from my mouth, I'd still want to see some improvements.

Last but not least, yeah the advertisement. I got here cause I saw the word "Free to play" on it. lol. Put on some nice swag and sweet advert. I'm sure a lot of player can make some, give em some credits for it.

It doesn't matter for me who you are, as long as you take care of this nice sweet home AnesisRO really good, I'll continue to support you, the GMs and the staffs, also, the server.

There's always room for improvements, Merkel. One step at a time and I'm sure one day this server will be at her glory days again. /afro

Glad to see some of the legendary vets still lurks. Means they have the heart to get back into the game when this server flourish again  ;)

Its hard to quit something that you love, huh?  8)

Broke most of my stuff before going on hiatus the past years due to the feeling of quits and dead environment but if the server starts to make a comeback like back then, then i would definitely want to come back and play.

Really misses the awesome GM events, especially the MvP spawns at Morroc. Hellishly fun /rice

And hey Kiyle, long time no see you man. Still have your leeching service on my sigs  /pif

Would like to put on record my DEEPEST GRATITUDE.  My ticket was acted on and satisfactorily resolved in 6 days.  I stupidly dropped my Kaho in CY and I got it back.

Getting 500+ players online is challenging, not impossible.  Everyone of us can make a difference.  How? Introduce a new friend; get in touch with old players to come back; like ARO on FB; write a review on RMS; be kind and helpful to new players (so they stay) and the list goes on. 

Players online have increased over the past few months and we can get there if all of us make an effort.  You guys love this game and you know it... otherwise why are you still around?  So SHOW YOUR LOVE!!!
