Title: Costume Gears : Does aRO have them ?
Post by: Razer on November 01, 2013, 05:42:19 am
These are basically headgear costumes that use the second tab pane in the Equips window. They weight 0, usually have no property (Sometimes they do). I have seen a lot of nice costumes on iRO and some other P servers. They work as excellent quest rewards, Festival-event things and nice Ad shop based things. They are also great fun for headgear collectors. ;) You can cover your regular dull hats with an interesting costume . Dont like that ugly alarm mask ? Get a cool Robo eye costume to cover it.
Does aRO have these ? Makes sense if I ask this question during Halloween , doesnt it ?

This would make custom Kahos/Valk helms and all those pussy cat bells obsolete, so no. Also I remember Fidelis having to downgrade the server minutes after implementing it. We have the tab, but no custome items.

It doesnt make them obsolete. Its an intended part of the game which I do hope the server gets. Its a loved feature in iRO and several servers.

Why spend 30 ads customizing a regular kaho/valk helm/pcb when you can disguise it as something that will most likely not even be in the list of customizable sprites. I'm all for disguising my head gears as something else. Endless Tower mids being up there on my list of head gears I would disguise, but yeah I just don't see this being implemented with the way things are run around here. This is the part where a staff member kindly chimes in.

Instead of headgear costumes how about armor costumes?
perma santa/summer suits?

No attacking sprites for them though. The attacked sprite will just show you standing with shield and weapon floating.

Thing with Kaho/valk customs is that most people opt for 1 custom at any given time. The thing with costumes is - people collect them like hotcakes. They can be given out in events, quest rewards, AD shop. Mostly costumes do not have any stats or properties other than looks but sometimes they do. So this slot tends to act as an extra slot too. In iRO, they often give costumes with expiring stats. For example, recently they had a lude mask costume which increases effect of healing by 20% but the effect expires in Dec 2013.
Very rarely they give out costumes with permanent stats but these often come from once a year events.
Costumes are widely used across other P servers as well and are a delight among the hat collector community. Now they can play with their favorite Western Grace hat look while actually wearing an ugly AoA.
This opens a whole new chapter and potential for revenues as well. There could be free costumes as well as well as occasional AD shop ones.
