i have just installed the game and when i start it appears a windows where there is write: "Cannot init d3d OR grf file has problem".
So what i can do???

if you were getting "Cannot init d3d OR grf file has problem" there might be another problem besides the necessary extra patch to download.

but maybe windows 8 is just behaves differently. i hope the patch is all you need. after all, one of the files it fixes is a grf.

Anesis will work with windows 8, but you may not have as many resolution options in anesissetup. if you don't mind playing in fullscreen or locked screen mode, then no worries. it could depend on your graphics card though. don't bother too much with it because the developer for opensetup (which we call anesissetup... same thing) is currently aware of this issue with win8. Just a side note, I run in Windows 8 just fine. I had a problem with corrupt downloads, but that was a global thing for my notebook. Which of course was fixed via Microsoft Update.

Did you download this yet? http://download.anesisro.com/abdatagrf.zip (http://download.anesisro.com/abdatagrf.zip)
Once it's downloaded, extract the files to your AnesisRO folder.

Then patch with the two patchers that start with "rsu-kro" and anesispatch.

let us know when you have completed these steps, and if it works or not. :)

Okay, recently I discovered this problem on windows 8. It was after I tried changing a setting, all of a sudden any display driver I chose under setup would not show.

Here's the fix that worked for me:

Make sure in compatibility settings for setup AND anesis.exe are both checked for either windows xp or windows 7.
Run the setup and chose a resolution.
Close.
Then run the patcher and play.

For some reason with windows 8 none of the driver options allowed a resolution. So you have to run the setup in compatibility mode, and then select one. You'll also want to run the game in compatibility mode afterwards each time.

Yes, there is.

opensetup is the same thing as anesissetup. it just had a different name in the previous version of the installer. so you should be able to get the same options with anesissetup.
not to mention, pretty much every application (.exe) should have compatibility options in properties.
i'm running win xp, but i also checked on win 7 and there are compatibility options there too... i can't imagine why there wouldn't be on win 8 as well.

So now the game work but the quality of the image are really bad why???

make sure sprite and texture are turned all the way up in anesissetup.

also, if you haven't already done this, i would recommend making sure fullscreen is unchecked and if you go to the ROExt tab at the top of anesissetup, make sure Lock Window is also unchecked.)
