If you used to play on AnimusRO or another private server, and RO is currently installed:
- The Conversion Installer can be found on the Downloads (http://www.anesisro.com/index.php?p=downloads) page.
- Install in the same folder in which RO is installed.
- Run anesispatch and start the game.
If RO is not currently installed on your computer...
or if you tried the Conversion Installer, but RO still does not work:
The Full Installer can be found on the Downloads (http://www.anesisro.com/index.php?p=downloads) page.

Option A:
- The most reliable way to download large files is torrenting.
- If you are familiar with torrents, just use the torrent link on the Downloads page.

- Please seed after downloading! (This is explained in the guide.)
Option B: Sorry, all-in-one full installer is currently not available. ¯\(°_º)/¯
- If you choose to download the all-in-one full installer directly from the site, just click the first link on the Downloads page that says "Download (1 file)".
- It's about 2 GB, so you may have time to watch a movie or read a book depending on your download speed. Just make sure you don't have to turn off your computer anytime soon.
Option C:
- If you want to download the full installer directly from the site in smaller segments, you will need to download Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4 on the Downloads page.
- Once all four parts have finished downloading, make sure they are all in one folder and then you can begin to install the game.
[INSTALL]
- Run anesis_full_20140823.exe ONLY. (The other three files are just there to hold the data the exe needs to install the game.)
- Follow the prompts and make note of the destination folder (where the game will be installed). It will probably say C:/Games/AnesisRO/ and that is probably the best place to put it for the best compatibility with anything newer than Windows XP. (It's fine for XP too.)
- When it is done installing, run anesispatch. When it is done patching, you should be able to login!
[ADDITIONAL PATCHING]
- You should be able to login after anesispatch does its thing, but if you want to make sure you don't get any errors while you play, make sure data.grf and rdata.grf are up to date.
- To do this, go to the AnesisRO folder in your Start Menu to find the patcher shortcuts (or go directly to the folder where you installed AnesisRO).
- Run patch_kro (formerly named rsu-kro-rag-lite). When it is finished, click Close.
- Run patch_renewal (formerly named rsu-kro-renewal-lite). When it is finished, click Close.
- Run anesispatch again to start the game. Now you can play!
Note: New updates are available for the kro and renewal patchers every tuesday/wednesday depending on your time zone.
OMG FILEZ PLOX
Missing a file or don't know where to find that custom grf you heard about? I've uploaded some of that stuff on my Microsoft OneDrive (or whatever they're calling it these days).
Anesis Patcher: Currently not available, at least not from me.
If you don't have this file after you install the game, your antivirus program probably quarantined or deleted it. If you don't know how to get a file out of quarantine or set an exception, or if you're sure it was deleted, go ahead and try downloading it. If your antivirus is still catching it, PM me for further instructions.

Everything is fully patched but I still get errors!
This shouldn't happen with a fresh full install, but in other cases, there are a couple of possible fixes.
Solution #1:
- Your abdata.grf got messed up at some point when you were patching Anesis.
- Download abdatagrf.zip (http://www.anesisro.com/downloads/abdatagrf.zip) to get some necessary files, including an improved patcher.
- Move the new files to your AnesisRO folder to replace the old files.
- Run the new patcher to make sure you're completely up-to-date.
Solution #2:
- There may be leftover files in your Data folder (inside the AnesisRO folder) from a previous installation.
- Find and delete the following txt files: idnum2itemdisplaynametable, idnum2itemdesctable, and idnum2itemresnametable
- Run anesispatch and you're ready to play!
Stuck in "Full Screen"
By default, the game window is set to fill the screen, leaving only the taskbar showing. To change this:
- Exit the game and go to your AnesisRO folder and run opensetup (NOT setup).
- Click ROExt at the top of the window.
- Un-check Lock Window.
- Start the game and it should be in whatever resolution (window size) you chose.
Windows 8: Blank window or cannot init d3d, and no window resolution options in opensetup.
The problem here is the version of opensetup you have. The version that came with the full installer is compatible up to Win7. If you have Win8, you'll need to download the newest version of opensetup from the developer's site: http://nn.nachtwolke.com/dev/opensetup/ (http://nn.nachtwolke.com/dev/opensetup/)
- On that site, click the link in the pink box that says "Download".
- Extract the files from the zip and put them in your main AnesisRO folder, replacing the older version of opensetup. (You just need the opensetup.exe file. The others are just info about it.)
- Run the new opensetup and switch from the blue bubble icon (lua mode) to the blocks icon (registry mode) found in the bottom left corner.
- In registry mode, you should be able to set the resolution and other graphical settings, and the game should work!
Homunculus errors
Note: This shouldn't doesn't happen with the latest installer, but if you install on top of your old install you might still have issues.
So you had MirAI installed when you played on Animus or whatever RO. You didn't want to lose your settings so you backed up your USER_AI folder and moved it back to it's place inside the main AI folder after you installed AnesisRO. But now you get over 9000 errors if you bring out your homunculus. And what are those other two folders that start with AI?
Don't worry. Here's what you do:
Solution #1: I haven't found a good explanation for this, but you need to copy your backed up USER_AI folder to all three AI folders (AI, AI_Patch, and AI_Sakray). Yes, you want to replace the USER_AI folders that are already there. Restart the game and see if it works.
Solution #2: If you are still getting errors, make sure you have 6 files in your main AI folder (not the USER_AI folder). The files are: AI.lua, AI_M.lua, Const.lua, lua.exe, pcAI.lua, and util.lua
a.) If all those files are there, make sure your USER_AI folder is still backed up somewhere, then download and install MirAI (http://www.mirandablade.altervista.org/index.php?pg=mirai&lng=en) again. See if it works with a fresh install. If it does, compare the USER_AI folder with your backup copy. Try copying your backed up files over there now. Does it still work? If it does, yay! If it doesn't, do whatever you need to do to get the fresh install back to your old settings.
b.) If any files are missing... either you accidentally deleted them at some point, or more likely it's been a while since you did a full install of aRO. Get the latest full installer and reinstall the game. Who knows what else you're missing? ^^;
