Title: Refinement System
Post by: 4n0nym0u5 on July 27, 2012, 06:26:51 am
Do we have an actual chart showing the success rates including Enriched Ori/Elu for this server only or do we simply follow (approx.) what iRO states: http://irowiki.org/wiki/Refinement_System#Non-iRO.2FF2P_Server_Success_Chances (http://irowiki.org/wiki/Refinement_System#Non-iRO.2FF2P_Server_Success_Chances) for F2P servers?

Or, to make it easier to find via the forum search:
For the sake of fairness, I'm going to post the following information here that someone asked in a support ticket, it might be interesting for some of you: The original question was about if a Whitesmith with job level 70 is better than the advanced refiner:
It depends. In most occasions, the enriched refine NPC will be better, though. You can calculate the rates in the following way:
This is the normal upgrade chance table taken from irowiki.org which is correct:
Upgrade Lv. 1 Lv. 2 Lv. 3 Lv. 4 Armor +4 -> +5 100% 100% 100% 60% 60% +5 -> +6 100% 100% 60% 40% 40% +6 -> +7 100% 60% 50% 40% 40% +7 -> +8 60% 40% 20% 20% 20% +8 -> +9 40% 20% 20% 20% 20% +9 -> +10 20% 20% 20% 10% 10% In order to calculate the Job Level 70 Whitesmith success rate for a weapon, you simply add 10% to every number. So for example upgrading a level 3 weapon from +5 to +6 would be 70% instead of 60%, so basically, the formula for a Whitesmith Job level 70 success rate is:
R = x + 10
where R is the new success rate, and x is the old one taken from the table.
To calculate the success rate for the advanced refiner, you have to use the following formula:
R = x*(200-x)/100
So for the same weapon upgrade, you'd have a 84% success rate here.
TL;DR: The advanced refiner is always better except for an upgrade for a level 4 weapon from +9 to +10. In that case, a whitesmith has 1% more chance of success (20% compared to 19% of the advanced refiner).
:D No idea if that even helps, I hope it doesn't count as spam. /swt
