Title: Voting Questions
Post by: -Selkie- on April 21, 2012, 08:35:40 pm
I have some questions about voting. I travel often, and am not always at the same IP address, but would still like to be able to vote on other IPs to keep my bonus points. Can I do this without violating the rules? I believe it usually shows the right amount of votes available even when I switch IPs.
My other question concerns having two players on the same IP. I went to play at my friend's house last night, and after I voted his votes reset as well since we were on the same IP. Is there a way we can both vote when I go to visit him?
I don't want to break any rules, but I'd still like to be able to keep voting regularly. Thanks for any input you can give.

switching IPs isn't the issue, the vote timer is bound to your forum account.
But it is against the rules to vote on 1 account on 1 IP then vote on a different account on a 2nd IP. Since they have no way to differentiate whether its someone frauding or just 2 people. So for your 2nd question, no if you're sharing the IP, then you can't vote together.

Did you mean it's against the rules to vote on one account on an IP and then a second account on the same IP? The way you said it doesn't make sense.
You've got it. It's against the rules to vote twice on the same ip. A bit unfair for people sharing a connection, but is the only way to prevent vote frauding.

I 4got to explain, if this is like if someone is using something to change their IP. I believe the voting cooldown is also tied to the last logon user. So if you don't change your IP and change accounts it should have the same cooldown but no bonus points. At least thats how I remembered it worked. So its pretty hard to actually fraud.
I feel like I'm wrong somewhere though...

Hmm. Guess I won't be able to vote at his place anymore. Which means I'll likely never make it to 30 bonus points. So long, extra ads :(

But she IS. Still adorable and an awesome character. Annoying at the same time.

You can vote wherever you want as long as you have one account per person. You do have to remember you can't vote at an IP someone else has recently voted on so be careful if you go over to the house of someone who also plays animus.

well that would explain why my husband and I have been having voting issues.... and that kinda sucks.
sometimes we have the same IP address though not always, depending on what internet we're using, but he's been having voting issues (i vote regularly he votes when he remembers or is actually awake) and sometimes its been 24hours and his votes are still not available... probably because i've voted on the IP already i guess????
