Title: How do GMs do an item location?
Post by: Mistress Pyro on January 06, 2012, 02:34:40 pm
Just curious~ I put in a ticket because I lost a couple of items. Do you guys have to go through all the accounts associated with someone? Or is there like a super quick and easy way to find an item? I guess what I want to know is how much trouble do YOU have to go through when you have to find an item for a player?

if you can provide the date and where it was last you remember it, they can check the item logs and track where that specific item has been since then with a unique ID. or something like that

Its an endless wall, of dates, times, to-from's, and IDs.

Which is why they want dates, timestamps, screenshots with timestamps.
Not dumb people going "yo some1 scamed my sqi give it back plox", not providing anything of evidence or investigation material.

And not to mention, that shit takes ages to complete.

Does it say things like "Item Valkyrie Helm [Gryphon Card] was traded to FlameStyleIIDX on 1/7/2012 at 1:00pm" or is it all numbers? like

"Item 3458 etc. etc etc."

guestimate, plus ive had a few things recovered where the GM quoted a line of some sort. But I'm just going off of what I roughly recall/would assume a log program would do

It is just a log of who traded what at what to who and at what time. They look through it until you they see what you were describing in the ticket.  I heard they have a custom individual id system made so that they can tell if item X is the exact same item X as seen in the previous parts of the log

Worked with it before on a pserver for a short amount of time, until I decleared that the work should be done by chinese children with small hands or prison inmates.

The others are kind of right as well, guessing what would be logical is a smart step, as the solutions for these problems were invented when people did just that.
