Title: What is the official policy on some new items?
Post by: Teggit on June 22, 2011, 08:34:28 am
As I'm sure you have noticed some items code do not match their descriptions. eg Torch cap report (http://www.animusro.com/forums/index.php/topic,109104.0.html) Is it policy to:
Change items descriptions to match their code
[0] Change items code to match their descriptions
Consider items on a case by case basis and do one of the two options above

Supposedly the item code is actually the correct one. But you'll need GM input for this.

I only assume that the code came before the description, so the code is the intended item function, the description may be a bad translation from Korean or just a mistype. As for any solid proof, no I don't have any :x

The script usually comes from Aegis leaks. So at least eA bases all their scripts on that.

This is useful to know, but I was referring more to what the policy with these items here is rather than from the point of view of the eA dev community.

this means, if the items were implemented as a copy of the Aegis original development team, that the item scripts and descriptions are "correct" but in some cases do not match. So really its up to the GM's discretion how they want to handle it, but i would assume its much easier to change a description than the code. maybe DeePee can tell you exactly how each is done.

As far as I know, everyone at RMS says you can't trust the item descriptions, and that if you have any doubts about the item's effect, to read it's script. Good example of this is Ledger of Death. It's description still states it old proc rate for Coma at 10%. But if you read the script on RMS, its a .1%

Both take about the same amount of time to fix. But yea...generally it's the description that is wrong.
