Title: eA Questions.
Post by: BreakTheSilence on May 09, 2011, 04:49:22 pm
1. Is it possible to have persistent toggling command for the server day/night? So it's stays as day or night even after you log out/close your client.
2. Is it possible to lengthen the character limit for the hotkey commands (alt+M)?
3. Can we have both Super Novice chant to work at the same time?
Dear angel, can you hear my voice? I am (your name) SuperNovice~ Help me out~ Please~ T_T (Random stuff) OR Guardian Angel, can you hear my voice? ^^; My name is (your name), and I'm a Super Novice~ Please help me~ T.T (Random stuff) Last I checked, the second one is the only one that is working.
3. Can we have it to not require the exact name on the chant like it does back when we were using Aegis?

With eAthena its always possible to do something the question is how much work would it take to do it. Some things are easy and some things are complicated. Not sure on the answer to that though.

Not really the answer I'm looking for.
Anyone that actually knows the answer to these?
Where is Aozora, DeePee or the GM team when you need them? ???

Hmm, maybe. A persistent toggling could be done with a quest variable, but you'll probably still have day/night change when it's the time for it, I don't really know. I don't know if it's possible to disable day/night change for certain characters, that's what you're asking about.

No idea, as I do not know if it's client-sided or server-sided. Apparently, the chant is currently not working at all?

1. Yes. You can make it autorun the command when logging in. 2. Probably, but tricky. You'd have to disassemble the client exe and find the part where it does that. Not easy to do at all. 3. After last eA update, unlikely, unless they reverse the update back then. I believe it used to be hardcoded in the server source, in which case it could be changed. But now it uses the text in a client file to read the correct text. On a brighter note, I think because of this it should now be possible to make your own custom lines to use by editing msgstingtable. 4. See 3.
Edit: damn you Fidelis :(

Awesome. Finally. Thanks guys.
But we can still pick one or the other, right? Talking about the chant. It would be great if we pick the shorter one.
Apparently, the chant is currently not working at all?
I did tried a week or two ago but I wasn't able to make it work. I figured it's because of my long name and I'm having typos. I tried asking around but I haven't had a definite answer from anyone if it works or not.

Okay, I guess I see what was changed, the client is supposed to send a packet when the chant is used correctly, but no matter what I try, it won't work. The packet is not sent to the server. I copied the exact lines from the msgstringtable.txt. Is it possible that this has to do with lub files?

Nah, there's no lub file for this I think. Haven't really tested any of this myself. I just know eA updated it some time ago to read msgstringtable instead of a hardcoded version.
Title: Re: eA Questions - Super Novice Chant Problem
Post by: Fidelis on June 02, 2011, 04:44:47 am
New information on the Super Novice chant problem:
It works when I write 7 lines full of nonsense, then the chant
Dear angel, can you hear my voice? I am (your name) Super Novice~ Help me out~ Please~ T_T (random line)(your name) does not have to be your name, it can also be just a letter "a" or something. I also didn't need to say the (random line) at the end, sometimes it seems you have to, though.
Important: It won't work if you don't type it in, i.e. if you use the ALT+M hotkeys to say it! You actually have to type the chant into the chat box, otherwise, it will not be activated. And it also might not work for the lvl 99 people with 99999999 exp at the moment. Proof: http://i.imgur.com/rPrU2.jpg (in the screenshot it works for lvl99, but just because this is an edited version of a test server, not the main server) Alternatively, if you change your msgstringtable as DeePee said, you can do stuff like this to get fury: http://i.imgur.com/6DlO9.jpg

Lol nice. How would I go about changing the msgstringtable?
Extract it from your GRF and put it in your data folder Edit the lines that say "Dear angel, can you hear my voice?" etc. ?????? Profit!

Thanks Fidelis. Only thing I could find from Google was just copies of other severs msgstringtables
Edit: Odd, I can't seem to get it to work. I had two sets of the chant in my file and the lines looked like this
Dear angel, can you hear my voice?# I am# Super Novice~# Help me out~ Please~ T_T#
Am I supposed to change both sets? How should mine look if I want it to work exactly like yours Fidelis?

Are you a level 99 novice? That might be the reason, since I think it doesn't work for level 99 novices with 99999999 exp yet. I will fix this on Saturday.

No, I'm level 84 with 30.0% exp. I was just wondering how you re-wrote your lines, Since mine had 4 lines, and yet it's only supposed to be 3
Edit: Nvm, I figured it out. Fidelis probably would yell at me for why it "wasn't working" for me xD.

Ah, I guess it's because you have to write "I am" and "Super Novice~" in one line, separated by at least one word, like "I am a great Super Novice~". And do not type in the #'s! :D

Actually, what I had to do was customize the first line and the fourth line considering you can type whatever you want for the second line. But what I didn't catch was that you have to actually use the chat box, and not the alt shortcuts.
