Title: How do I record using Fraps? How do I put clips over 30 seconds?...
Post by: Bomber Will on January 16, 2008, 03:17:11 pm
How do I record aRO using Fraps?

How do I make it record over 30 seconds each?

How do I edit the clips and combine them into one long video?

Thanks =)

I deleted fraps because i realised that it for some reason took alot of space and i hardly ever used it :<
Anywho, you have to assign the recording button to a key, and then run fraps in the background while playing, then when you hit that key itll start recording. (since i deleted it i dont know exactly where, but look around :< )
You can't make it go over 30seconds without the full payed version but you can just hit the record key again after it runs out.
To put them all toghether, just open windows movie maker, and import each little clip from your fraps folder by doing File > Import Media, then putting each one in order on the timeline thingle, then saving the whole thing.

the reason why it takes so much space is probably because Fraps doesn't encode videos. Unencoded videos are huge, a 15 min clip can take 1gb+.
The best idea is to go and download a software called VirtualDUB. It's a lightweight video editor that allows you to, remove or add audio, encode videoa, clip and paste them together among other things. Then jsut use Vdub to encode the videos before posting them anywhere.

Use F9 or whatever the default was.

Fraps also has to be running.

Also, if it's working, you'll see a FPS counter in a corner of the game screen.

does it matter what size is the aRO screen?

No, the file will be huge no matter what.

Only record a couple seconds to test.

I had trouble getting older versions of FRAPS to run if RO wasn't full screen. No other game or emulator (DosBox or SNES) has given me this problem, but every RO client, be it eAthena or Aegis has required a full screen load. Also, VDub is a good choice for encoding videos. In addition, I suggest getting the K-Lite Codec Pack with FFDShow.

You also need to have fraps running before you start your game.

Personal preferences, really. I like K-Lite. Not that I have anything against CCCP. It's just two different codec packs with some similar packages.

The last time i used it Fraps would not work unless aRO was in full screen mode.

its not too hard, you just drag stuff to the bottom and on the timeline add in effects/sounds etc... when you want them.

Window Movie Maker is pretty neat. Once you done with editing your clips , you can compress it to like 100 mb . Quality might not be as great but yea...

might as well move to my next question:

how do i disable the sound and how can i make a song play (like epic WoE videos already made)
Title: Re: How do I record using Fraps? How do I put clips over 30 seconds?...
Post by: Saitou on January 16, 2008, 11:26:41 pm
For fraps, you can decide to record the sound of the game or not. So when i record my WoE scenes, I don't record the sounds. I just add w/e music i want on window movie maker. Drag and drop does the trick :)

If you recorded the sound, just drag the clip to window movie maker, toolbar- Clip- audio - mute. Drag w/e music you want.

Don't use so much compression.

Either encode it differently or upload to Stage6 instead.

well i encode using the 2nd biggest option (first one was over 2GB and youtube only takes 1GB)

i'll look at stage6, thanks
