Title: Ragnarok portable
Post by: Evilness45 on November 08, 2010, 12:43:34 pm
Ive been wondering if it was possible to turn Ragnarok into a portable app. I want to run it directly from my USB, from computers to computers.
I pulled it off with some games, namely old Blizzard games. I wanna try with AnimusRO now.
Anyone tried this?

Well, I know I had to export a bunch of registry entries, and edit them for Diablo2, Starcraft and Warcraft3 for them to work.

You don't need any special software.
1. Right click your AnimusRO folder. 2. Select copy 3. Navigate to your portable storage device. 4. Right click an open space. 5. Select Paste

you can always try and find the registration entries, copy them and make one bat file to install them with a click on the new pc

I can't play it on my laptop, so I just run it off of my 500GB External HDD. There's no need to get any registries or anything. At least I don't think so. Works fine for me.

Wow i was about to ask the same question.
Hmnn wat about this:
i left my laptop at home and currently using my fren's computer n library's. So i had no RO file installed in any computer. If i doenload the RO installer, can i install it on a usb and not on the computer? I dont want any ro installed in my frens laptop. N the last time i tried deleting ro from my lappy it was unsuccessful.
So is it possible to install ro in a usb n run it on a computer which didnt pre iously installed wif ro? N if its possible, wats the spacesize needed to store n play ro on the portable usb?
Thanks = )

So far, school computer doesn't block Starcraft, Warcraft 3, Diablo 2, and I know the network doesn't block WoW.

how big is the size of your stick? I mean the spacesize of your usb stick xD
N does it run on non ro-installed computers?
Ur usb needs to be bigger than 1gb, 2gb is good enough. And yes, u cab run it on non-ro installed computers because u have all the necessary files on ur usb.

My usb stick is 2 GB but ro is like 700 mb and yep it works on non-ro installed computers because it is already installed on your stick so it doesn't matter if you have ro on any PC

Actually, it has already been done. I copied my RO folder into my usb and have been running it from there ever sense. In my opinion, there's no real catch to it, though you have to make sure you have enough room not only for the folder, but also for updates.

it's just bad it doesn't save the BM... You always have to set it again and again maybe i do something wrong ??? but if you played from f1 to f12 then you don't be worried ;)

So I've tried it and it works. It doesn't work well thought, as it appears it have to load the pickup animation whenever i want to pick up some item on the ground. It's like if it freezes for the duration of the pickup, like, for quarter of a second. Anyway, it's still playable.
And it's 1.82 gb on my USB stick.

Well, yeah there has to be drawbacks like with any other game. Any game you boot from a usb is bound to lag sense it takes longer to assess the memory, it being a little further away in friendly terms. Even so, a simple fix would be to copy your RO folder into the computer. Ta-Da! Problem solved.
As for the BM, I don't have a problem with. Maybe its a problem on your end?

I said nothing about some BM. In my case, I couldn't hear it because I don't have any speakers. I have a fix for that however, I was simply lazy to use it.

I'm guessing he means battle mode. Probably a problem with his data folder? That should be where hotkeys save.

You can either simply turn on all desired options in the tab that you do have left and simply rename that, or if you'd like the default one back do the following:
Go into your data folder and open ChatWndInfo_U.lua with editor; Remove everything it contains and then copy and paste the following in:
