Title: Can I get some help with my wireless?
Post by: DJ Soul on September 10, 2010, 02:28:07 pm
Lately I been getting alot of lag spikes when I play my online games, so I did a ping test on my internet and got these results showing my internet drops every 6 seconds. I don't know how to fix this. I using a laptop with Windows 7.
It's pretty much like this all the way down every 6 seconds.

Do you get the same results when pinging your router? Maybe restarting the router will help? If there's a high ping to your router, then you probably need to move your router/computer for a better connectivity if restarting doesn't help.

Try plugging in a cable and see if you still experience these problems if at all possible.
also, if you use DSL, make sure your MTU is set to the right value ( 1492 i think it was ? ) instead of 1500.
Also make sure that traffic shaping in your router is turned off.
Just some ideas of the top of my head.

Try testing the ping when your computer is closer to the router to see if it is just a range problem. Also it may help to set your router to not operate at its fastest data transfer speed.
